The Clueless Dupes of Socialist Journal-land
Okay, it’s nice to hope for good things. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone had free…everything! Of course among the “priorities” would be health care and education.
Many (most?) journalists love this idea. They love it so much that they think that other people living under a full-blown dictatorship is fair price for such noble stasis. Say you want to “help the poor, provide affordable health care and education to all” and you basically get a blank check to impose any kind of horror you please (and you don't even really have to produce the free stuff you promised!).
Anyone who has read even a few lines of my writing can see that I’m really unfond of the socialist scheme. The ideologies, the “plans,” the history of bureaucracy and blood all make me sick. How people, time and again, fall for this total crock of nonsense amazes me. But fall for it they do.
The myth-makers of international history fabrication would have us believe that pre-Castro Cuba was some hell-hole of mass-starvation and the current imposed Messiah of the Island nation had somehow not only rectified such horrors but actually produced a sort of paradise of egalitarian bliss.
Truth be told; Cuba, before the bearded one, had one of the best health care systems in all of Latin America, one of the highest literacy rates, one of the largest middle classes, and an overall economy that rivaled many European nations of the time. That was all scrapped. For what? ….(typical) “socialist revolution.”
Cuba has been a communist prison state for almost half a century now. Virtually no civil liberties, rationed food, and a distributed poverty that makes it one of the poorest countries in the world. And, why should this be a surprise? It’s a communist dictatorship stupid! Get a clue.
“A clue” is something in short supply among the pampered weasels of Journal Left-land.
Only in “mainstream” socialist propaganda could one find such jewels of observation as this:
"...'For Castro, freedom starts with education. And if literacy alone were the yardstick, Cuba would rank as one of the freest nations on Earth. The literacy rate is 96 percent'..." -- Barbera Walters
Plenty to make a sober mind nauseous, at The Media Research Center.
And…for some contrast.

The Ideology of a Thousand Masks -- Socialism
Whether Global Warming, inequality, or anti-Americanism (which can now be considered an official "ism"), the big ism of big state authority continues to use any gripe it can to arouse the "masses" to support the rule of bureaucrats and "philosopher kings."
Some good links in this regard follow:
From Davids Medienkritik:
"...The United States is number one in greenhouse gas emissions primarily because it is the number one economy in the world. With 5% of the world's population we produce 25% of global wealth. And despite being relatively clean and green, Germany leads Europe in emissions, because it is Europe's largest economy. Our emissions are not out of line with the size of our economy. And it's worth noting: the International Energy Agency is forecasting that China, with a smaller economy, is expected to surpass U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2009..."
and The American Thinker:
"...For the international Left today, the EU is the new USSR, the hope of all nations for love and peace on earth, forever and ever. Its first objective is to humiliate the United States --- or to control the US, to make it the tugboat that pulls the rest of the world to socialism. That is presumably what Hillary Clinton meant when she recently called for more "internationalism" in US foreign policy."

Testament of an Artist / Intellectual
“…We are, of course, opposed to greed -- as my book (and It’s sales*) clearly demonstrate.”
“We are, of course, opposed to acquisition of wealth -- as my platinum-selling album clearly expresses”
“We are, of course, opposed to private property as my thesis and award winning documentary have clearly shown.”
…“We are, of course, also opposed to the lifestyles, values, and goals of the common folks who we speak for and who dare fail to recognize our lordly grandeur.”
Sincerely,
The philosopher kings of Post-Modern pampered neo-Comm hypocrisy
* “sales” may, of course, be compelled if you are a college student.

Some Quotations of Grand, Little, or No Value
Regarding climate change:
"...Climate change" isn't like predicting Italian coalition politics. There are only two options, so whichever one predicts, one has a 50 percent change of being right. The planet will always be either warming or cooling..." -- Mark Steyn
My own random -- perhaps bizarre -- observations:
-- Reality only occupies the immediate present...and it (the immediate present) is gone already.
-- The EU is nothing more than the UN's "Mini-Me."

Nonsense From a Mouthpiece of the Old Order
Vladimir Putin is mouthing off again. Taking advantage of a trendy hatred and resentment of America and milking it to his advantage (PR for dictators).
Will Russia ever be anything but a cauldron of resentment, and obedience to authoritarian demagogues?
...No.
China and a host of countries in a similar condition of post-totalitarian awakening certainly have a good chance of becoming successful, open, and free societies. Russia will always be a different story. This is a country where good portions of the citizens think that Joseph Stalin was a great man (be consistent, why not Hitler too?).
Sorry for some lack of professionalism in writing on my part, but Putin and his entire country will never extricate themselves from the political prison they so adore.
To complain of America's role in the world is certainly easy for those who have always despised success and dynamism. Coming from Putin and the rag tag remnants of a Soviet empire is laughable.
In a time when the entire world must risk the violence and oppression of Muslim jihad we still have the old clowns of socialist authoritarianism poking at the very existence of decent and dynamic free society.
Could jealousy be any more transparent than when the seven decade long gulag still complains of the American achievement?

"I believe..." 'Me too...
'Still in semi-non blogging mode and probably won't be back to any routine for several weeks ('gotta buy a new computer and tune it to my liking). For now a brief expression of belief by another.
I've always loved the following quotation by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. It's on a plaque at Rockefeller Center in New York City. I saw it in person for the first time when I was rather young but it still resonates with me for it's simplicity and grandeur. Of course many of the values stated are despised by those who hold substantive character in disdain and would prefer a world with all the opposite of what is stated here. Rockefeller was also a dreaded capitalist so anything he had said would be held in contempt by some on that account alone.
“I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I believe that every right
implies a responsibility, every opportunity, an obligation; every
possession a duty.
I believe that the law was made for man and not man for the law; that
government is the servant of the people and not their master.
I believe in the dignity of labor, whether with head or hand; that the
world owes no man a living but it owes every man an opportunity to
make a living.
I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living and that
economy is a prime request of a sound financial structure, whether in
government, business or personal affairs.
I believe in the sacredness of a promise, that a man's word should be
as good as his bond; that character-not wealth or power or position-
is of supreme worth.
I believe that the rendering of useful service is the common duty of
mankind and that only in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the dross
(waste matter) of selfishness consumed and the greatness of the human
soul set free.
I believe in an all-wise-and all-loving God, named by whatever name, and
that the individuals highest fulfillment, greatest happiness, and
widest usefulness are to be found in living in harmony with His will.
I believe that love is the greatest thing in the world; that it alone
can overcome hate; that right can and will triumph over might.”

"Culture of Corruption"?
...'Still buried and overwhelmed in chores, errands, and mundane trivial pursuits but, I've got to get something in for now:
Remember, the left “cares.” They care what color your skin is. They care where you live, how much money you make, what kind of car you have, what you eat, where you send your kids to school…and, definitely, HOW YOU THINK! … etc.
‘Definitely makes the idea of “caring” a bit creepy. Now, if we could only get them to mind their own business, deal with their own personal finances, and get their much-adored state out of our faces.
There's an e-mail going around with the following interesting record of events surrounding the Clintons. Some of it can be claimed to be hyperbole and happenstance coincidence but a great deal of it is factaul enough to cause one to ponder just what kind of people we're dealing with when we bow before the American queen of socialist arrogance -- Hillary Clinton.
I'll continue to be very delinquent from blogging for awhile (weeks) but enjoy the list below:
"...If Hillary gets elected, do you think they will put all the furniture they stole back in the White House???
Food for Thought: Just a quick refresher course lest we forget what has happened to many "friends"of the Clintons .

You'd think that the same media that found George Bush's national guard duty so interesting would at least take a passing interest in such things...then again, maybe not.
